PADA Studios
Research Residency

March—April 2025
PADA Studios, Art Residency & Gallery
Companhia União Fabril (CUF) — Industrial Park
Barreiro, Portugal

During March and April 2025, I will be joining PADA Studios as the first artist and researcher participating in the new Research Residency programme.

During this research residency at PADA Studios, I will continue developing my work doing arts-based research AND research-based art connected to my explorations on mining, extractivism, and contemporary art in industrial and post-industrial landscapes.

Similar to work undertaken during the Velferden Winter Residency in Sokndal, Norway, I plan to explore the post-industrial landscape of the Companhia União Fabril (CUF) — Industrial Park in Barreiro, Portugal through various forms of image-making. This includes photography and illustration.

About PADA Studios

PADA is an artist-led, non-profit arts organisation based in Barreiro in Lisbon’s South Bay, located within the old Companhia União Fabril (CUF) industrial park. Created in 2018, PADA provides artists a space to develop their practice, interact with other artists, and explore new approaches in a post-industrial environment.

About the Research Residency

The Research Residency is designed to appeal to those who want to spend time with the community at PADA but don’t need a studio space. Aimed at writers, curators, researchers or desk based artists, this residency will provide accommodation and a work space at PADA studios.
